Mission
At Carolina Instruments, we develop novel optical and physiological sensing devices that empower neuroscience researchers and clinicians to gain deeper insights into brain function and behavior.
Team
Originated from a collaborative effort at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, our team at Carolina Instruments is comprised of dedicated engineers and neuroscience researchers.
Ellora McTaggart
CO-FOUNDER
Ellora is a biomedical engineer with expertise in device development and commercialization. She worked as the laboratory manager across the Pegard and Rodriguez-Romaguera labs and led technology development for their research group before launching Carolina Instruments.
Nicolas Pegard
CO-FOUNDER
Nicolas specializes in optical engineering and is a Principal Investigator at UNC Chapel Hill. He leads projects to engineer custom hardware, develop advanced imaging platforms, and build data analysis pipelines to push the limits of how we monitor and manipulate the brain.
Jose Rodriguez-Romaguera
CO-FOUNDER
Jose is a neuroscientist who is focused on understanding the brain circuits that underlie emotional and behavioral processes. As a Principal Investigator at UNC Chapel Hill, he leads projects across mice and humans to create innovative approaches for clinical intervention.
